So…A Little Bit About The Writer

Jake Benson has been an actor for almost 10 years. He has appeared in various productions including: Trainspotting; Iqbal Khan’s Of Mice and Men (Birmingham REP/Leeds Playhouse); Hedwig and the Angry Inch (Greenside, Edinburgh); Years and Years (BBC/HBO) and has provided his voice for the LEGO video game franchise; The King’s Man; Shadows at the Door; and The NoSleep Podcast.
Jake first ventured to Middle-Earth through Peter Jackson’s trilogy (which in turn captured his heart for a career in Film and the Arts!) and then dove into the books and has never looked back…so much so that he had Tolkien’s insignia inked onto his arm! The Lord of the Rings truly has been a light for him when all other lights have gone out.
He is also a keen supporter of seven meals a day.
Why a Blog? Why this Blog?
The Long Expected Journey grew in the making. Much how Tolkien described The Lord of the Rings. The idea to create something to commemorate the adventure Jon Cross and I are taking was very easy to make. Jon had already decided on a Tumblr journal Misplaced Midlanders. I wanted something that felt a little more grounded in a plot (typical for a script writer!), with a lot of video material with an almost “making of” edge to it. Then, I had the idea of adding photos and blog site to host it. Finally, there came the real points.
What do I want to say and why?
More of the that can be found in the first post – Prologue
But mostly it came down to two things:
1. Something commemorative for a journey years in the making with my best friend.
and 2. That it helps someone, somewhere in the world decide to step out of their own front door without knowing where they might be swept off to.
